Fabrication of Blast Protection Walls for Gulf Marine Services
Gulf Marine Services (GMS) has contracted Niron Staal and Damen Shiprepair & Conversion’s yard Shipdock to modify its jack-up barge ‘GMS Endeavour’.
One of the modifications is the fabrication of blast protection walls or so called ‘fire walls’. These are needed to protect the crew and environment during offshore contracting. The pre-fabrication -including painting and insulation- was executed at Niron Staal. Preparations on-deck and the welding of the blast walls to the deck was executed by Shipdock.
Shipdock’s project manager Harke Kijlstra: “GMS vessels provide the stable platform for delivery of a wide range of services throughout the total lifecycle of offshore oil, gas and renewable energy activities”. Niron Staal and Shipdock are able to support GMS with the modifications required as it prepares for the upcoming offshore jobs”.
